The Polemic was founded in 2015 under its original name ‘Whitehall and Washington’. It began life with a transatlantic focus on domestic politics. The Polemic was relaunched and rebranded in 2020 with a new scope and new vision. Based in London, British politics remains prominent but now The Polemic seeks to increase international coverage from a wider range of authors, writing on their respective passions.

We wanted to create The Polemic because in such a polarised, partisan and prosaic journalistic environment, we wanted to provide an alternative. We appreciate that it is easy for smaller outlets to appear tin-hatted in their critique of mainstream media, so instead of making any strong comments, we shall leave you with the words of one of the greatest polemicists to ever live:
